In addition, people were able to use these steel fabricated products for a long period of time because of the material’s strength and durability.
However, not only the new and raw steel materials have been transformed into things that will make people go “Wow!” There are Filipinos who fabricated scrap steel materials and made wonderful works of art.
With the reshaping skills of Filipino steel fabricators, scrap materials from automobile parts could be modified into awesome and unique “metal sculptures”.
For instance, a Filipino welder named Mario Mallari, Jr. from Manila has successfully turned scrap metals into unique pieces of sculpture. He had used old automotive parts and discarded metallic parts. Due to his creativity and persistence, he was able to make animal sculptures out of his metal scraps.

Based on the belief that steel could last forever, he had made his sculpture out of steel. Using multiple metal working techniques, it was simply amazing that he was able to make human figures out of tough steel materials.

“Bakal” (the Tagalog term for steel) for Pete Jimenez, is not just a simple material used in making tools or other appliances. It is his inspiration for making his collection. So, still thinking of metal scraps as nothing but trash? Well, think of it once again. These Filipino artists have proved that steel could really last forever. It may be tough to manage and is not flexible enough to easily be bend, cut, or mold, but with the equivalent amount of perseverance and toughness (with the addition of creativity) of Filipino craftsmen, steel fabrication could really be turned into wonderful masterpieces.
